In a significant stride toward enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public procurement, the National Treasury of Kenya has launched the nationwide rollout of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System. This initiative follows a presidential directive issued during the State of the Nation Address on 21st November 2024, mandating that the system be fully implemented by the first quarter of 2025.

The e-GP system marks a major reform under the Public Finance Management agenda, designed to streamline procurement processes across all government levels, both national and county. Through this digital platform, the government aims to reduce procurement costs, minimize delays, and eliminate inefficiencies that have historically plagued public purchasing.

But this transformation isn’t just about technology. It’s about building trust, improving service delivery, and creating a level playing field for all stakeholders. Suppliers, contractors, and consultants are now at the heart of this digital shift. They are urged to register on the e-GP portal, www.egpkenya.go.ke  by 1st July 2025, as all procurement activities beyond that date will be conducted exclusively through the system.

To support this transition, the National Treasury has made several resources available:

  • Physical help desks at the Treasury Building (Room 622) and across Huduma Centres
  • Weekly virtual webinars every Thursday to guide suppliers through the registration process

This is a leap forward in how government does business. Suppliers who embrace the e-GP system stand to benefit from improved transaction integrity, standardized procedures, and greater access to opportunities.
